Project Context
Through the Misfit Reveries website design initiative, the shift from traditional in-person sales at art fairs and markets to establishing a robust online presence has been both innovative and impactful. Collaborating closely with business owner Alicia Bohrer, we've executed comprehensive brand redevelopment, devised effective marketing strategies, and enhanced website usability. Beginning with a blank slate in the online atmosphere, we've been successfully developing a platform that effectively highlights her distinctive artistry and products.
Role
Brand Identity Designer, Web Designer, User Experience Designer
Responsibilities
Brand Identity Design, Web Design, User Experience Design, Adobe Suite
Taking the Dive
Through several meetings and collaborative calls, we identified the core values Alicia Bohrer wanted her brand to reflect. Her distinctive penmanship is evident in all her artwork, each piece showcasing a unique personality. Recognizing the distinctive nature of her art, we brainstormed ways to best highlight her works.
Time Line
Consultation- Discovery
Our journey began by defining the company’s core ideology and future message. Using ideation and numerous mood boards, we crafted a distinct brand theme. As we experimented with various visual elements, a crucial challenge emerged early on: determining the online product offerings and logistics for shipping—an integral factor influencing website and product/packaging design.
We explored different online services like Printify and other product creation platforms, devising strategies to scale her local business to a broader audience. By overhauling branding, packaging, and marketing approaches, we significantly bolstered her market presence. As she embraces the digital marketplace, her creativity is reaching new heights, pushing the boundaries of innovation.
During this initial phase, we not only conceptualized physical product presentations but also laid the groundwork for digital representation. We began wireframing potential site layouts and establishing information architecture, setting a solid foundation for the digital platform.
Web Design
Through numerous iterations and wireframes, we settled on a streamlined layout as the business continued on its online expansion journey. Using Figma, I curated the elements the business owner envisioned for the website and crafted a mid-fidelity mockup (as seen above). This mockup provided them with a clear vision of the potential final product. As we delved into various website hosting and builder options that would empower the owner to easily manage and edit the site, the design evolved to align with their proficiency in site editing and analytics management.

Road Blocks
As the project progressed, both the business owner and I faced numerous obstacles. While I focused on finding ways to simplify the process of updating and editing, I recognized that expecting her to learn new software might be unrealistic. Despite my efforts to break down and demonstrate various user-friendly software options, she remained concerned about her ability to grasp them.
Transitioning to online commerce proved challenging, but as always, we found a solution. We created a series of instructional videos that detail how to navigate and utilize different functions within the website editor. After a meeting, we compiled a list of essential actions she needed to perform.
To address the changing functionalities, I produced screen recordings on how to upload, edit, and maintain the site, considering her preference to avoid hiring additional help.
Although the learning curve is steep and the process remains difficult, we are committed to helping her become proficient with the website hosting and building platform.

Product Reworks
As we began showcasing images on the website and incorporating them into product displays, I noticed the images could benefit from some enhancement. Utilizing the Adobe Suite, I digitally transformed the artworks while preserving their unique personality as seen in person. At the request of Alicia Bohrer, several iterations were created for various products.
As Bohrer continues to develop her inventory, I am focused on testing and refining the layout for presenting each product. I am designing the layout with flexibility in mind, allowing for easy adjustments to accommodate the addition of new products and evolving business needs. This approach ensures that the design can adapt seamlessly as the inventory grows and changes.
The Future
With product production gaining momentum, we are actively updating and refining the website to showcase Alicia Bohrer's creativity as effectively as possible! Stay tuned for the exciting launch of the new Misfit Reveries Website during the holiday season!
